Description from the publisher:
One woman in hiding. A man desperate
to escape his future. A union that can’t ever happen.
A bad girl meets a good guy who is just trying to do the right thing.
Dawn takes jobs—the jobs people need done, but don’t want to get their hands dirty with—because she’s good. But this job may be her last. She not sure if she’ll survive it.
Jackson is reluctant to fit into his father’s mold. The Mayor’s son, he’s ready to live his life on his own terms, but it seems his life is already laid out for him.
When he rescues her from a “job” in the middle of a hurricane wracking their fair city, the two paths collide.
And the consequences could be dire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dawn is a bad girl. Not because she was raised that way, but
because it is how she can survive on the run from a bad family. Jackson is a good man – the kind who gets the
nickname “Boy Scout” just because he is so good. Like a peanut butter and pickle sandwich – they
shouldn’t belong together, but they do.
I loved that Jackson is alpha, but
so is Dawn. I loved that both realize
that love means sacrifice – so many people fail that test, thus the high
divorce rate. Finally, I love the
heart-stopping hand-raising moments of utter trust in one another.
This is a story that just does not
follow any formula or known trope. Do
not think you know what they will do, other than fall in love and live happily
ever after (it is a romance, after all).
How they get there, is completely different, and that is what makes it
amazing.
I did it again. Reading while working is not something I
routinely do, but when I have one of Anne Conley’s books available, the rules
will be broken.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC,
my opinions are my own and are given freely.
