CHEF’S DELIGHT is the third book in the Stories of Serendipity series. Each will stand on its own, but for maximum enjoyment read them all!

There are four main players in this story. Jessie Stillwell is a modern woman running her own goat ranch which includes an herb garden, greenhouse vegetables, and an orchard. She is a self-sufficient woman who has learned to not trust men to be more than a few hours companion. Connor Wright is new to Serendipity and has just opened an upscale restaurant. He has been so emotionally (and legally) crushed by his ex that he has nearly given up on women. Jessie’s ex, her abuser, Chad, is a local cop with a Napoleon complex. The ghost with a crush on Connor is Louise, a young lady from the 1920s with some serious boundary issues. Now that I’ve done some armchair psychoanalyzing, let me tell you that all of these characters – and everyone else described in the book – are engaging, riveting, and appealing. They have strengths and weaknesses. They feel like real people that you would know.

The story is propelled forward by the mystery of the ghost – who is she? Why is she there? Why is she angry? Still, more than anything it is a romance. It is perfectly paced as Jessie and Connor get to know each other – something foreign to Jessie.

I loved the interwoven story of the haunting and the exorcism arranged with Bo and Summer, who are friends of Jessie.

Oh, and there are goats and lots of food! I want to hug a baby goat and eat a cherry-chevre tart now.
