This is the first book in The Barter
System series. It was intended to be a
stand-alone, but sometimes the characters decide for our authors. This book has no cliff-hanger and absolutely
can stand-alone, but why would anyone want to leave such wonderful people?
Riya O’Connell is a trust-fund baby
intent in making her own mark on her life.
For her dissertation on Male Sexuality, she has chosen eight men to
interview in person in exchange for a week of her time to do whatever they
want. Each is a man she discovers she
could fall in love with if the conditions were allowed to ripen. Instead, she leaves a bit of her heart and a
legacy behind her as she moves on to the next, until she finds herself, her
place, and her home where she hadn’t planned.
Riya’s first stop was Orlando, FL,
where I live. I am keeping my eyes out
to find Sean – what a sweetheart! She
also visited Georgia, Texas, Montana, California, New York, and Boston. It was the visit with Lucas that affected me
most deeply. I think this is the first
time I have ever identified with a male character, maybe because I relate so
completely with his situation of loneliness.
Nobody warned me that I would need tissues.
As I sat here crying, my husband
came home from work and says “oh it’s one of those books.” I said, “nope, it’s erotica” and the
hysterical crying continued with laughing now mixed in and him remaining clueless
as to why I was so lost. I laughed
often, cried with heartbreak a few times, and gasped with the passions of the
people in this story. I was so glad to
know that I already had the next book in the series and began reading
immediately.
