This is the first book in the Destiny Revealed series and they will need to be read in order.

Xade is one tough-ass woman. She knows she was born Fae, but nobody knows what type. She has been bitten and turned into a vampire. In her world, she is a rare person to have retained her Fae powers when gaining the powers as a vampire. Bullied as a child and outcast by both Fae and Vamps, Xade has only one friend, Shauna, a powerful witch.

Deysyl is a vampire, the strong arm of the Vampire Council, and Xade’s ex.

When a homeless man possessed by a Prophet tells Xade, “They are coming for you, all of them. Your choices will either save you or doom you. Run, girl, run,” she knows that she is serious trouble. As frightening as a Prophet is, they are never wrong. Soon she and her friends are in daily battles for their lives, including a trip to hell and back. The biggest battle, The Exhibition, is yet to come when all species will fight for supremacy.

I’m a sucker for a plea for help. When one author put up a post stating that she was looking for bloggers for another author who was looking for reviews to be posted on release day, I volunteered. Since the release was supposed to be in 36 hours, I couldn’t promise a 7am review, as is the usual criteria, but here we are.

I have never before read anything from Ms. Ketteman, so had no expectations going into this. I loved how strong Xade is. Even when contemplating her love life, she doesn’t become the simpering femme that so often happens in paranormal romances. She remains bad-ass to the last page. The characters are well-developed and there were enough unique elements that you will not find another story to compare. I am looking forward to the continuation of this series. I seriously need to know what happens at The Exhibition.
