Description from the publisher:
When
Charlotte Murphy escapes from the ruthless serial rapist and killer, Loverboy,
she finds herself completely lost and scared to death. Lost, frightened,
recovering, and in the sights of a brutal killer. In a most odd but clever
tactic from the police, they assign Charlie 24/7 live-in protection; a move
that is supposed to comfort her and make healing easier. Somehow, despite the
odds, Charlie finds a refuge in officer Nick Andrews and in his arms she finds
the strength to heal and the courage to move on with life. Nick finds
everything that he wasn’t looking for in Charlie’s eyes and a fight against a
killer that becomes personal.

Charlotte, who is called Charlie by
her friends, wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what has happened to
her. She has police protection at her
door because she is the only one to have escaped from Loverboy, the serial
killer terrorizing New York. Her
protection, Nick, has been assigned to accompany her home when she leaves the
hospital in the hopes of keeping her safe until Loverboy can be caught. Beyond protecting, Nick works to help Charlie
heal emotionally while her body heals and the police work the case.
A few days ago, I posted an excerpt,
the first chapter of this book, as a spotlight for the re-release. When asked to do a spotlight for this one, I
jumped on the chance. Knowing how much I
loved the Believe series books that I have read, I just knew I wanted to read
this as well. I one-clicked that
morning. As soon as I cleared my
calendar, I devoured Loverboy.
This was no fantasy. Instead, this story is gritty and scarily
real. I could not put it down. This was a read a paragraph while at the red
light kind of can’t put it down. The
suspense was well written and the love story was not rushed. Trista has tackled a subject that frightens
all women as we balance independence with the evil that pervades this world, and
she did it with gentleness and respect. I
look forward to more stories from Trista, both real and fantasy.
