His name is Lucifer, Lucas, Luke and he is sexy, silly, protective, intense, and completely alpha. All of that proves just how complicated he is. Reminiscent of Shrek, he comes off at times as an ogre, but he, too, is like an onion – he has many layers.
The tensions – Luke’s and Ana’s past, as well as the current situation – are powerful throughout this whole story. It just never stops.
It frustrated me that the past was so slowly revealed, and yet that juxtaposed with the present with its danger, fear, simmering heat, anger, and simmering heat makes the story what it is.
This story is a second-chance, fiancés to enemies to lovers, suspense romance as only Lisa Renee Jones can write one. On that note, you know if ends in a cliff-hanger, because she is the queen of cliff-hangers. It’s perfectly placed to leave you wanting more, and I do! I will grab the next book as soon as it’s available.
