Description from the publisher:
Heather expected things to be a little crazy at her first medieval reenactment. She didn’t expect to need rescuing—or to find a real hero.

PRETEND PRINCESS. REAL HERO.
After nearly getting lost on her way to her first medieval reenactment, Heather’s evening only gets crazier from there. Sparks fly between her and the handsome and chivalrous Roland, who’s not just a pretend knight in shining armor but an undercover army ranger on a dangerous mission. When he rescues Heather from a real—if fuzzy—monster attack, the pair is forced to spend the night in his safe house. And while Heather may no longer be in danger, her heart most definitely is.

VAGUE DIRECTIONS is a stand-alone short-story.

I loved how sweet this story was.  There is only one mild sexual encounter towards the end.  Other than that, it could be read by most teenagers.

The title is perfect.  I teasingly tell people that I am geographically challenged.  If Heather’s friend, Stephanie, were giving me directions, I would never find my way to the SCA event!

Great build up, but the story needs a bit more development after the “evil creatures” are introduced.  I have fallen in love with Heather and Roland and would have liked to have spent more time getting to know them as they built a relationship while fighting side-by-side.  Still, a sweet ending and it makes me smile.

I would love to read more from Debra Parmley.  There is an innocent romanticism to her writing mixed with a very healthy sense of humor.

Note:  while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
