SHARDS OF LOVE is the fourth book in
the Mercenary Hearts series and
the sixth in the SAFE Security series.
In a world that is facing a “new normal”
every day, it is strangely comforting to experience the SAFE Security team as
they wrap their heads around all that they did or didn’t do right, wrong,
should have, could have, would have done differently.
There are a lot of hard issues to
read in this story. I can’t. I won’t write about some of them, because of
the spoilers, but suffice it to say that boundaries weren’t crossed, but they
were questionable in the aftermath. Yes,
I know that is cryptic, but I had to intrigue you – bwahaha! No, in all seriousness. There are things that happen that make you
think. What would you do in that
situation? How would you feel in the
end? Was he right? Was she?
Given what they knew at the time, not the 20/20 of hindsight?
There is a reason Jessica and Jesse’s
story is a trilogy. Like most real relationships,
it is very complex; it required time to tell all of the important growth as
they went from lust, to acceptance, deep and abiding love. That’s what this final book in their path was
about. Reaching the true depth of their
love that is beyond lust and co-parenting.
It was also about finding the D/s balance that actually worked for both
of them, because every couple is unique.
