Usually when you think of a Victorian romance, you think of England. What we all seem to forget is that “Victorian” refers to the time of Queen Victoria’s reign (1837 – 1901). This story is set in 1885, Chicago. Being in America, this would usually be called the Industrial Age, but saying Victorian evokes a certain understanding of society’s mores.
Callie is an absolute disaster-waiting-to-happen. She (like me as a young girl) can trip over air currents. It made for giggle-worthy scenes.
I loved the relationship that grew between Mason and Callie. I was invested in their adventure from the first page!
