This is the second book in the Masters of the Shadowlands series. Each does stand-alone (so far).

Soon after Kari arrives at Club Shadowland to take part in the Beginners’ course, her date shows himself to be domineering instead of dominant and frightens her. She is given the option to be paired with an experienced Dom and continue the course. Master Dan only does one-night play dates. He will not take a sub long-term. This works for him…. Until he meets an innocent school teacher with a hidden fire that brings him back to life.

As opposed to FSOG, abuse is recognized instead of being glorified. The offender, being a beginner, is given the opportunity to learn how to dominate properly and his submissive is removed from training with him. Instead Kari is paced with Master Dan…. sigh, Master Dan. In this dungeon, all of the DM are hard-bodied beefcake (trust me, not the same in real life!) wearing leathers and providing a commanding presence. Kari is a curvy girl. She is insecure, excited, and nervous.

Ms. Sinclair has perfectly captured that chaos of emotions that embodies the novice submissive, while providing a romantic love story to capture the heart.
