It is best if the books in the Priscilla Pratt Cozy Mystery series are read in the order of release and I recommend reading them all (or at least the four I have read so far).

FANGS AND FONDANT is a wonderful opening book for the series, named for the bakery owned by Priscilla Pratt.

Melissa Monroe has built a unique cozy world where vampires have revealed themselves to the public.  She does a terrific job of describing the differences between vampires and humans and the difference between Hollywood and reality.

The mystery was well thought out.  The victim was an annoyingly, entitled, bridezilla.  I almost didn’t care who killed her!  Except, I didn’t want Priscilla to be accused.  Other than the bride and the killer, I found the characters to be inviting, full of personality, and individualized.

It was fun to listen and try to guess the true culprit.

A BITE OF BLUEBERRY seemed to be filled with even more immediate danger for Priscilla and her friends.

Also, Priscilla’s fairy godmother has come to town and her antics add to the laugh-out-loud moments that are needed to counter balance the serious times in a good cozy mystery.

While increasing the likeability of the main characters as I got to know them even better, there was another great mystery to be solved.  Priscilla, Anna, Arthur, Maddison, and the rest of the friends we have made in Bellmare are up for the task.  These are strong characters and I love them!

BLOOD IN THE BATTER was a terrific story that included LARP play where I could envision my son joining in the fun.  I’m just glad nobody twisted an ankle sideways!

The best cozy mystery in the series so far!  The mystery will keep you guessing until the end and the characters are strongly written with great descriptions and depth.  I am loving them more and more.

The funniest line in the book may have been the last one… wait for it!

HOLY CREPES:  I was happy and sad to begin the fourth book in the series.  I love this series, but I knew that I didn’t have any more of it.

The two newest members of town (and I don’t want to name them since this is a box set and I don’t want to give anything away in case you haven’t started the first book yet) just may be my two favorite characters besides the girls!

There were so many lovely twists and turns that I was pleasantly confounded, and knew that I just had to hang on for the ride.

Overall, the books are wonderful, but I had a problem with the consistency of Priscilla’s age.  She actually got younger in book four than she was in book one!  This may also be the only place in the world where it takes six months to get from the beginning of October to Valentine’s Day.  Still, those points are me being nitpicky and I still love the stories.  I am looking forward to more being released in audio and hope that I will be invited to be part of the review team again.

Narration:  The production quality for the narration is crystal clear, as is Cindy Kay’s voice.  There were some words that I had to decipher the pronunciation, but that improved with each book and I can only assume will continue to improve as we move forward with the series.  There were a few times that she did the wrong voice for a line and that was confusing, but otherwise she did a great job of giving a variety of voices to the different characters.  This is always a plus when listening to a book while driving 70mph down the turnpike!

Note:  While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
