Description from the publisher:
Londyn Bennett entered my world like a hurricane. One I was grossly unprepared for. But in the short time we’ve known each other, she’s opened my eyes to things I never expected. She taught me about acceptance. Compassion. Love.

Because of her, I’ve also been forced to learn about prejudice. Cruelty. Hate.

We may come from two different worlds, but the second we met, our hearts beat as one, nothing able to sever our connection.

Or so I thought.

When the bubble we’ve been living in bursts, will our love be strong enough to weather the gale-force winds threatening to upend everything? Or is hatred too powerful to overcome?

A wise person once told me that the right path isn’t always the easy one.

I just never realized the right path could be so treacherous.

ATONEMENT is the second book in the Possession duet and the fourth book in the Redemption series.  While I have not read the previous books in the Redemption series, both books in the Possession duet must be read – and in order – to enjoy the full story.  This is a wonderful, contemporary, slow-burn romance that focuses on current topics.

I started on this second book in the duet immediately after completing the first.  I had to know what happens next.  I was literally holding my breath until the book uploaded to my kindle pages so that I could.

Wes is faced with an impossible situation:  stand by the woman he’s fallen in love with or the (adopted) sister he has always loved and protected.  Who does he believe?

You for me. Me for you. For the rest of our lives.

Lines of gray, blurred lines, nobody is truly innocent, and villains will always lie.  This is a beautifully written story that embodies those feelings of “us against the world” that all star-crossed lovers face.  Even when making mistakes – that make the reader want to scream in their own torture – there is a realism to the characters’ responses to all that they have faced.

Any time you, as the reader, are feeling tormented, just keep repeating after me.  “This is a romance and Love will prevail.”

Note:  The author included a warning:  Please be aware that this story may contain triggers for particularly sensitive readers.***

This story is about an inter-racial couple and  addresses cultural and societal response to their relationship.  Londyn is also the survivor of sexual assault and there are scenes that could be triggering for someone sensitive to reading about this.  These sensitive subjects are conveyed with sensitivity, respect, and integrity.  Ultimately love is love is love and thriving after surviving is possible.  Your “book 2” is coming too.

Note:  While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
