ROYAL BY BLOOD is the tenth book in the multi-author Once Upon a Fairy Tale Night series and the first book in S.A. McClure’s Lost Queen Chronicles. 
 
I love fairy-tale retellings and this was no exception.  Penny, Layla’s PEA (personal electronic assistant) was probably my favorite character.  She reminded me a little of the Model B-9 Robot from Lost in Space – slightly arrogant and always one step ahead of our hero/heroine.
 
I loved that this story was all about letting us know the backstory and preparing for the series.  There is no rush, because we know that more will come in future books.  I love the slow burn for all the details.
