This book is an excellent primer for how to use clicker training in conjunction with crate training or without the crate for a dog that is past the puppy stages.  I liked how the author gave clear and simple instructions for each of the basic skills and then for some more advanced tricks.  I like the author’s philosophies of positive reinforcement versus dominance.

These are basic tricks… not SMART tricks.  Still, I want my dog to know these skills and they are important.

I will be keeping this book handy along with the companion book RAISING THE PERFECT PUPPY… when the time comes.

This is a nice quick primer for your new puppy.  I suggest reading and rereading several times in preparation before you bring your new bundle of energy home.  The techniques of positive reinforcement (versus dominance) require patience that will pay off in a happier dog, a happier (quieter and cleaner) home, and a happier you.

Though I found the chapter set-up a bit repetitive and found myself skimming over the end-of-chapter summaries, the information provided is solid and well worth the time invested in reading this book.  When implemented, the advice is sound.

I recommend this book as an excellent puppy primer.

COLD PURSUIT is the second book in the Cold Justice series.  Each book will stand on its own, with the exception of A Cold Dark Promise, which is a follow up novella to A Cold Dark Place.  There is some mention of Mallory and Alex from A Cold Dark Place, but you do not need to have read their story to enjoy this one.

Oh. Em. Gee.  Every mother’s nightmare is capsulized in the first two chapters! (Though that is far from the end of the terror and suspense).  My own (ex) daughter-in-law was present during a mall shooting and could share with you the terror of a gun in a crowd.

The tension and suspense start on page one and from there is fast-paced action and non-stop drama – sexual tension, global tension, family tension, … grip the wheel and hold on for a hard ride!

Knowing how Vivi felt was natural, but also including the villains’ voices allowed empathy and sympathy for another culture to be brought through as well.

My advice:  do not miss this book or this series…. Especially this book.

Narration:  Eric G. Dove is very warm and easy to listen to as he narrates the story.  He sounded so much like another narrator that I have enjoyed in the past that I had to go make sure it wasn’t the same name.  Of that narrator, I wrote that his voice was a sinful dark chocolate dessert.

ALPHA RISING is the first book in the Bull Creek Chronicles series.  This could be enjoyed on its own, but I would assume that you wouldn’t want to miss any of the stories.

In my opinion, this is a prequel to the Destined Mates series and would best be enjoyed before diving into that series.  Since I’ve already five books in the Destined Mates series, this was a bit of returning to old friends and getting to know them better.  I loved the insight.

I’m looking forward to reading more about Draven Falls, the Paranormal Council, and my friends down the road in Bull Creek, Florida.
