But then again, Milo, the vampire who died was a dear friend of Zoe’s sister. And whoever killed Milo has made it clear that they’re going to strike again. So it looks like it’s up to Zoe again, with her friends, to solve a murder and hold everything together.

WITCH PLEASE is the third book in the Familiar Curses series.  Though this is the third book in the series, I was not lost in who was who.  It did stand on its own.  I will not miss a future release if at all possible.
 
Add in that this was a Christmas story.  In fact, it is Zoe’s first Christmas in the mortal world, and she is crossing back and forth through the wardrobe to the witch wardrobe to experience the best of the season in both realms.
 
Now, the reason she is in the mortal world is to find her mom and to locate the source of some use of illegal magic.  She is trying to balance her burgeoning friendships, a new romantic relationship with Officer Sean, and the ongoing investigations, when she is called back to the witch world to assist with a murder investigation there as well.
 
I loved Zoe’s friends, family, and the suspects.  Everyone had such big personalities that it was easy to quickly learn who was whom and how they meshed with one another.  I enjoyed working with Zoe, her twin sister Chloe, and her friend Lissie as they did the research for this mystery.
 
There are great twists and turns, lots of suspects with reasonable clues to follow for each.  I loved that Zoe isn’t a perfect witch.  She struggles with her magic because she struggles with her confidence.  I look forward to watching her grow in both.
 
This was a fun, easy read that didn’t add to the tension in my life.  This year (2020) that is exactly what I want.
