TAIL OF A WITCH is the second book in the Kracken’s Hole series and part of the multi-author Magic and Mayhem Universe.  Though each story in this trilogy will stand on its own, I recommend reading them in order since there is a building of the world from one book to the next.
 
Maeve’s cousin Arietta was cursed by her father’s narrow-mindedness and resentment.  Luckily, when he rejected her, Maeve and the krakens believed in family unconditionally.
 
I love this series and the belief that the socially inept are lovable, intelligent, and worthy.  There is hidden depth and value to the marginalized…. Both the girls, their familiars, and the krakens.
 
Now before you think I believe this was a heavy, preachy story, I don’t.  I just see the depth of the story behind the story.  In truth, it was fun, funny, and easy to read.
 
The only thing missing from this story was an explanation for where her ginger cat was for the last few years while her father held her hostage from her heritage.  Was he hiding in the shadows until he could reveal himself?  It wasn’t clearly explained.
 
I am looking forward to the final cousin joining these Kraken Guardians.  I’ll be reading and encourage you to read all three books with me.
