Description from the publisher:
Revenge is a dish best served cold... while wearing heels.

April has just learned the real reason behind her boss’ impromptu dinner invitation. He only invited her to dinner with his colleagues to prove a point: that he can show up at an event with a plain Jane and still be considered ‘the man’. She expected better from him and had secretly hoped one day their friendship would grow into something deeper. Now she sees that he will always think of her as just his ‘nerdy secretary'. But her two best friends won’t let her wallow in her pain. They convince her to give Dr. Stewart a dose of his own medicine.

The plan: show up at dinner looking irresistible and prove to her boss even nerd girls can be sexy. But first she has to replace her unattractive business suits with something sexier and more revealing. It’s time for a makeover.

Dr. Chad Stewart would never ‘really’ date his secretary. She's too good, too pure for someone as jaded as himself. It doesn't matter that he is half in love with her. But when he needed an ‘average date’ for a dinner party she was the first person he turned to. He thought his secretary was the perfect choice until he arrived to find her looking like his wildest fantasy. But now she knows the real reason for his invite and he can see in her eyes how hurt she is.

Can Chad convince her to forgive him for hurting her or will she walk out of his life... taking his heart with her?

This is the first book in the Nerd Girls Love Hard series.

Dr. Chad Stewart always has a beautiful woman on his arm when attending social events with his colleagues.  When he asks his secretary, April, to accompany him, he plans to show them that he is more than half of an attractive couple.  He wants to prove that he has earned his place in the medical world as a doctor.  When April finds out that her job  that night is to be a plain Jane date, she feels dejected and belittled.  Rather than allow her to retreat with a pint of ice cream, her friends convince her to allow them to perform a makeover that will drop the doctor’s jaw, but then what?

I love April.  She is smart, a little introverted, nerdy, geeky, and naturally pretty.  She doesn’t need the falseness that so much of society deems necessary for women.  She’s more of a “take me as I am or leave me alone” type of girl.  I wanted to hate Dr. Chad.  After all, he was acting like a cad.  Instead, I ended up liking him.  He isn’t intentionally hurtful, just insensitive.  He’s also fighting his attractions to April and that makes men stupid.

I hope Monica Garry-Allen continues this series.  I’d love to see what she comes up with for April’s roommates, and for Dr. Chad’s friend, Michael
