Description from the publisher:
Her past will haunt her until she can remember it.
Teri Conover emerges from a river late at night with amnesia. She
doesn’t know how she got there, and she can’t even remember her name or her
past. She’s taken in by an elderly couple and feels drawn to a good-looking
stranger named Bryan, but when she returns to her old life, she finds she is
already engaged to another man. Teri must choose between the two men and race
against time to discover what caused her amnesia. Most important, though, she
must grapple with a past that she’d just as soon forget.
Warning: Not for the faint of heart! This book contains explicit sex
and naughty language. Proceed with caution...if you dare.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teri’s first memory is pulling
herself from the river and walking through a storm. Luckily, she is taken in by an older couple
as the storm rages for several days.
During that time, she also meets one of their neighbors who has also
been caught out in the storm and found that the road home has been washed
out. In close quarters, the four become
fast friends, but always Teri’s amnesia blocks conversation as it blocks her
memories. When the rains halt and there
is no need to look for Noah or his boat, Alex and Charise Burger take “Violet”
to the police station. There she finds
out that she has family planning for her memorial service! She has to learn who she was before, what
were her duties at work, and what kind of person she was. Now she has to remember how she ended up in
the river before her history can repeat itself.
In reading this, I could feel
Teri/Violet’s fear, concern, lust, trepidation, and appall. For a while, I was Teri/Violet and dealing
with amnesia, hostile co-workers, and confusing relationships. What I really loved about Teri/Violet was her
refusal to back down and her determination to make her new life a better one
than what she had before.
I am in love with Jade C. Jamison’s
style of writing. Even without a rock
star in the story, she finds the inner rock star in her characters. She is able to write strong women who are
still feminine and sweet men who are not wussified (yes, it is so a word!). I would never miss a book created by Ms.
Jamison.
