This is a stand-alone novel (not part of a series). It is Jade’s first foray into the paranormal – ghosts and demons to be specific.

This is the last book for me to read from the backlist for Jade C. Jamison. I have loved every book I have read from her. Most are contemporary romance, usually with an element of metal music. This story had elements of romance and metal, but it was more about the psychological trauma of dealing with demons, real and imagined (or are they only in the imagination?).

Kenzie Sampson has completed one semester at college and is now home for the Christmas break. During her time away, the family has moved into an old house, inherited from an uncle she barely remembers. The family is keeping secrets. Kenzie is keeping secrets. The house is keeping secrets!

I love Kenzie. She is trying so hard to keep it all together and not burden her family with her secrets and fears. Her little sister Melody is the kind of friend that a sister should be – or is that the kind of sister a friend should be. She is lucky to have both in such a sweet little package – and she knows it. Kenzie’s best friend Adam comes for a visit and, again, Kenzie is blessed with a hot package, a fellow metal-head, and a good ear. Everyone should have an Adam in their life.

As always, Jade kept me dancing on my toes and the unexpected was around every corner.
