Description from the publisher:
The journey begins in book one, when
Lauren is wondering what went wrong with her life? She thought she had met Mr
Right but it turns out that once he was promoted to chief of surgery he was
married to his job. They rarely spend time together as a family or in the
marital bed. Lauren's life was crumbling down around her. She thought life with
Julian was going to be exciting and fun not dull and lifeless. With a young son
and business to manage Lauren has had no chance to live. Her savvy friend
finally convinces Lauren to come out and have an adventurous night on the town.
This is no ordinary night out on the town. Lauren's friend has kept a secret from her but she's about to find out what that is. Anonymity is the key to this club. Masks are worn, no names are mentioned, some bondage if required, not to mention anything a Dom wants to do to his submissive.
Can Lauren learn to submit, let down her guarded heart and take a chance to live again. She soon learns that all Dom's are different when she feels the wraith of another Dom at the club. As Lauren explores her sexuality she must find a way to juggle her new life and keep this part secret from her husband.
Wanting to feel alive, she risks her family to receive the pleasure that has been denied for a long time. Lauren learns being a submissive is a life affirming experience. After discovering her husband has someone else, she must chose to continue in a loveless marriage or give herself up completely to her new Dom that has taught her so much. Will meeting her Dom face to face change her life for the better or worse?

This is the first book in the
Secrets series. They will need to be
read in order of release.
Lauren feels something is off
and she is lonely in
her marriage, so she calls her best friend to go out for the night. The friend, Kim, takes her to a bondage club
and sets her up with a Dom in their open-air meat market way of meeting. I can’t imagine any real club working this
way. This is porn-fantasy twattle! The most common key phrase in BDSM is safe,
sane, and consensual (SSC). It would not
be safe or sane to accept a stranger taking you to a private room. I understand condensing actions for the sake
of a book. I understand insta-love. This scene did not make me feel that either
of those were the situation. Nope,
instead I’m supposed to believe that a married woman, who doesn’t know the
first thing about BDSM would blindly follow a stranger. I’m also supposed to believe that a Dom would
allow her friend to negotiate for her.
To me, that makes Kim a pimp!
Infidelity is not romantic. BDSM is not only about scenes and sex, which
is all that is portrayed in this story.
I would say that Cristina Hope did some decent research about what a
scene may look like, but did not explore the way that a relationship is formed
in the lifestyle.
FSOG fan-fiction, which we’ve all
been told is fan-fiction of the Twilight series (I still don’t see that one
LOL). So, like a xerox copy of a copy,
it is left feeling washed out and irritates the senses.
Grammar/editing: C – average writing,
poorly edited
