Description from the publisher:
A god. A mortal. A treacherous
journey that will bind their hearts forever. Lonely and cast out of society,
Eden gets a visit from Tyondric, God of Fire, in answer to a prayer. Gods can
only appear once in a person's lifetime, so when he returns a second and third time,
she knows her life will never be the same. When the beautiful god reveals Eden
is The Pure Soul--the only one who can close the gate to the heavens and
prevent the evil in Ananthuria from spreading--their relationship gets
complicated.
Ty is willing to break every rule to save the world. And to save Eden.
As they set out on their dangerous journey to the gate Eden is kissed by the god. It's then she realizes Ty holds the power to break through every wall she's erected around herself and force his way into her heart. But what will happen when they close the gate and the world returns to normal? Can a mortal and a god ever be together? And with an evil lord on their trail, will they even succeed?
CONTENT WARNING: Contains sensually erotic scenes, a snarky heroine, and a gorgeous god.

This is a stand-alone book.
Eden has been widowed and ostracized
by her society. Alone and cold, she says
a prayer for her flint to work and the god of fire, Tyondric, visits and grants
her request. She
knows that a mortal is
only ever allowed one visit from a god.
She has had hers, though brief, so is confused when he returns and
again. Ty reveals that she is The Pure
Soul. Only she is able to cross through
the gate to the heavens and close it to prevent evil from entering to rule the
world. Ty and Eden will face danger to
reach the gate. They will also discover
something unexpected in each other.
I am not a fan of “epic adventures.”
I’m that person who says, “meh,” to the
suggestion of reading/watching The Lord of the Rings. So,
why would I read this? Well, it’s from
Samantha Holt and I have loved everything I have ever read from her before, so
of course I took a chance. Think of this
story as Epic- Lite. Yes, there is an
archaic time and a quest that will determine the fate of the world, but mostly
there is romance. Ty is thousands of
years old, has seen all that humanity can and has done to one another, but
still can’t figure out why women do what they do. Then he meets Eden. Something is different, and it all suddenly
matters to him. Sigh!!! God or man, that’s what true romance, true
love, is all about! Eden has had
marriage, though arranged. She is now
alone, lonely, and unwanted by her community.
She is sure she is just counting the days until she will join her family
on the other side. Then she meets Ty and
life is changed. The possibilities exist
again. Again, Sigh!!!!
I hope Tyondric’s brothers start
talking and Samantha Holt is forced to expand this into a series. To which god do I need to pray in order to
make that happen?
