LOVE'S LINGERING DOUBT is the ninth book
in the multi-author First Street Church
series and the first in the Texas Homecoming trilogy. After reviewing the third book in the
trilogy, I’ve come back to read (and review) the first and second. These three should be read in the order of
release. The rest of the books in the
First Street Church series are stand-alone stories and can be read in any
order.
Jazlyn has lived her life as the
bearing in a pinball machine. When her
brother died, she gave up her dreams and her softball scholarship to complete
his dreams in a military career. She
gave up the military career after a bad breakup with a superior officer. What I didn’t like was that all of this was
glossed over in just a few lines. On the
other hand, the story focused on the here and now. It focused on Bailey, Jaz, and the
relationship they are growing together.
I liked the side-story of Jaz as a
softball coach. At first, so was tough
she made the girls cry. I would have
liked to have seen more of the growth as she learned to be a better coach.
I loved this beginning of Jazlyn and
Bailey’s love story. I loved reminiscing
about their relationship, through her brother, of their time in high school,
about finding similar likes, and common ground now. I loved how they complement and encourage one
another in their life goals. They are
learning how to be partners. IMHO, this
is one of the true goals of a fulfilling life.
I know this is part of a trilogy
(especially since I have already read the third book) and I’m looking forward
to reading the second book to complete my understanding of their path to
happily ever after. I can’t wait to see
what else is in store for them.
