FAME IS A KILLER is the first book in the Hope Hadley Cozy Mysteries. While each will probably stand on its own, it’s probably best to read each in the order of release, or at the very least read this one before any subsequent ones.

At only a little over two hours listening time, this was extremely fast paced! In fact, had the narrator slowed down to a more natural speed it should have been two and a half hours. Her speed reading was making me a nervous driver!

The story itself was also fast-paced and dialogue driven. The concept is well a good one, but I would have liked to have seen more development of plot. I can only hope that future books in the series will not feel so rushed.

Don’t get me wrong. I did enjoy it; I just felt like it was saying “here is suspect A, suspect B, and suspect C. This one did it.” without enough intrigue and suspense for the reader – too fluffy. It is safe for pretty much the whole family to listen – i.e. no swearing or sexual innuendo.

I have listened to a couple of other books from this author and would love to listen to more of this series to find out how Hope’s character develops in her new home.
