This is the preview /prequel book in the Goldie Locke and The Were Bears series.  They do need to be read in order.

When Goldie Locke, earth-witch, has a problem with poachers destroying a herd of rare miniature mastadons, leaving one rare female infant behind, she turns to the law firm of Baehr, Baehr, and Baehr.  Can they, together, put an end to the poaching and nurture the baby elephant to health and happiness?

This is a very short story to introduce us to the main characters of this series.  I am already in love with Goldie and the Baehrs.  They all make quick jokes about the names and have great attitudes.  The story may be quick, but it is complete and there is no feeling that anything is too rushed or missing.

This is the first book I have read from Ms. Reeves.  I, for one, want to read more and will soon.  I just purchased the next book in the series.
