CROWNS
This is the third book in the
Cynfell Brothers series. While each does
stand-alone, I would recommend reading them in order because you do get updates
on the couples from the previous books.
Each brother is more deliciously
sinful than the last. Julian was full of
wrath, until Viola tamed his ire. Julian
lived a life of envy, until Jo-Jo provided a glimpse into a mirror that showed
him that he had all that he could need and that envy was wasted energy in his
life. Pierce is allowing greed to lead
his days.
This book’s opening scene is a very
naked Pierce on the side of a country road.
Just imagine: you wake up from a night of drinking and partying with
your friends to one hell of a hangover and no clothes in sight. Pierce is the fourth son in the Cynfell
family. He has no responsibilities and
lives a life of decadent debauchery. Greed
has had him in the grasps of the gambling halls and now has him naked and
alone.
Lady Evelyn is old enough to have an
adult child (barely), but young enough to still crave lust. (Good God, let us never be too old to crave
some good old fashion lust!)
It’s an interesting proposition she
gives Pierce. She’ll scratch his itch
(and pay off his debts) and he’ll scratch her “itch.” Then they’ll walk away from each other. After all, their hearts aren’t being
affected, simply their bodies.
I loved reading this story of
personal growth for both Pierce and Lady Evelyn. I also loved the intertwining story of
intrigue and their actions and reactions that bring the truth to light. Could Lady Evelyn’s late husband, a man she
loved and knew inside and out, have truly gambled away their son’s inheritance?
Seven brothers. Three have had their stories and each has
been more amazing than the last. Who
will be next? Which sin has him within
its jaws? I’m ready for more!
