Description from the publisher:
A
trained assassin. A man even the deadliest of warriors fear. To cross him is
foolish. To steal his heart is pure madness.
Book
two in King of Prey series.
Sachin,
head advisor to the king of the Accipitridae realm, has been forced to put his
trips to Earth on hold. He's not been honest with himself or King Kabril about
his need to visit the primitive planet. The king thinks him to be a womanizer,
out to bed as many human females as possible.
In
truth, a woman he should have been able to woo with little to no effort - his
mate - has found someone else to fill that void in her life. She wasn't
supposed to be on Earth. She wasn't supposed to be human. And she sure the hell
wasn't supposed to agree to marry another man while Sachin was away.
Sachin
must make a choice, give up the one woman he knows to be his true mate and let
her live in ignorant bliss of what walks among her people, or fight for what's
his, taking it at all costs.

This is the second book in the King
of Prey series. Each does stand alone,
but it is still best to read all and in the order of release.
I read the first book in this series
back in December (and the fifth in November).
I love Mandy Roth’s stories and I was very glad to receive this one for
review as part of her review team.
In the first book, the king, Kabril,
spends some time on Earth as a veterinarian as he woos his intended mate,
Rayna. Sachin goes along as his
roommate, when in fact he is the king’s advisor. Now we find out just how Sachin has come to
gain so much knowledge of the people of the Earth realm. He is a man-whore with a kink for earth
girls.
It turns out there is one in
particular that he has been watching as she grows from frightened teenager
(with a past that would terrify anyone) to a beautiful young woman. In the years that he has watched over her, he
has fought the one truth that will give him peace. That girl, Paige Rapp, a human is his
mate.
I loved Paige’s sass. When Sachin acts like a horse’s a@@ (as men
sometimes will), she doesn’t make it easy for him to come crawling back. The chemistry is undeniable, but she isn’t
ruled by her heart alone.
This was another quick, steamy,
romance with an expected HEA. I have always
loved a Mandy M. Roth story and this one doesn’t derail that sentiment. I’m looking forward to more …. And hope that I
don’t have to wait 8 more months for more birdmen!
