After being accused and tried for a
murder he didn’t commit, Julian Mathews does not trust very many people. In fact, he can count on one hand the people
he truly trusts, the ones who stood behind him in his darkest hours. Though he was acquitted, the media has
vilified him; he is believed to have gotten away with murder, because of his
wealth and celebrity status. He
disguises himself and because of his disguise, he is able to experience life as
a normal twenty-year-old, without the paparazzi and the entourage of his usual
life. He goes to New York for a
visit. There, he meets Sandy. Still, he wants to clear his name and until
he does, he does not believe that he is worthy of her attention.
I’ll get the bad news out of the way
first – the grammar, spelling, and editing are not well done at all. Once I accepted, within my own mind, that
this was obviously written by a person for whom English is a second language, I
was able to enjoy the story line.
Now for the good news - this was a
wonderful love story and mystery-thriller.
Written, mostly, from Sandy’s point of view, it was interesting to delve
into the mind of the young woman thrust into the spotlight as the new fiancé of
a reclusive, cynical, fallen star.
Together, Julian and Sandy, face the world and the psychopath intent on
claiming Julian for himself.
