Description from the publisher:

Bear-shifter, genetically altered, super soldier Weston Carol just wants to return to his life off the grid and relax. He’s done his good deed of the decade by helping a friend and former teammate and simply wants to retreat to the woods and drop off the radar of those looking to kill him.

Until news of his mate—one he didn’t know he had—reaches him. And she’s in danger.

But he’s in no condition to go straight to her. Too long without seeing to his manly needs and too long without shifting has left him a tense, grumpy mess and on the verge of losing control of his bear side.

What harm is there in one little stop on the way to take off the edge?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the second book in the Immortal Outcasts (an Immortal Ops spin-off).  Each stands on its own, but I would recommend that you read them in order anyways.
When I got to work this morning, the power was down.  I had several (interrupted) hours and I devoured this story!  I am thanking God for a power outage.  How often do you get to say that?
Weston is a grumpy bear.  Things change when the immortal is told that he has a mate, and she is in trouble.  That’s all it takes for the reclusive man to pull up stakes and fly across the country with Gus and Bill in an effort to find and save her.  Paisley doesn’t even know she needs to be saved until moments before they arrive.  I loved her determination in all things – whether it was supporting her friend or chasing her heart for the sake of her mate.  She is powerfully strong emotionally and intellectually.
Gus and Bill have returned in this story as well and they have never been funnier.  When Bill asked Paisley if she had a sister named Plaid for their Scottish friend (Striker) who wears a kilt, I thought I was going to die laughing!!  In fact the interaction between Gus and Bill was even more endearing this time around.  I just felt closer to both of them and adored their symbiotic and brotherly relationship.
My final word:  Another one hit clean out of the ball park.  Mandy M. Roth remains as one of my go-to authors!
Grammar/editing:  A – near perfect
