This is the 14th book in
the Southern Shifters series, created in collaboration with nine authors so far. Each book stands on its own. Of course, I’ve never met a series that I didn’t
want to read them all. (Now I want the
rest of these as well!)
The storyline was well thought-out
with just enough surprises to keep my attention. I loved the story and then to find out that
it is part of a series that was brought to mind by multiple authors sharing a
world of shifter? That was icing on the
cake!
I love Deke. He is sincere, sweet, hot, and full of
surprises. Jett never really grew on
me. She seemed too stand-offish most of
the time with an air of superiority. I
know the author was trying to portray vulnerability and low self-esteem, but
that’s not how it felt to me. Of course,
my own days of vulnerability and low self-esteem (which are behind me, thank
God) had me often labeled as stand-offish, so maybe I should say, “well done!” On the other hand, Jett was in a new
country, with new and sometimes terrifying people, and discovering a mate who
was not only not the same breed, but also younger than her. That would put the guards up for most people,
right?
This is the first book I have read
from Vella Day. I definitely do not want
it to be my last, whether in this world of shifters or in one of her other
worlds.
