A year ago, Rye was given the
diagnosis everyone dreads. She has cancer, a brain tumor that is
inoperable. As she grows weaker, she worries about her 10-year old
daughter, Em, her mother, Dee, and the rest of her family. She tries to
hide her pain and worry so that she does not increase the suffering for her
loved ones.
During a charity walk with her
daughter, she runs into a classmate from high school, Jett. They are
immediately drawn to each other, but Rye resists. She doesn’t want to
burden this man with the road she sees ahead of herself.
This is a love story, but they get
married when we are only half way through the book That's because it was
also a story about the miracle of life, a lesson to cherish each day with the
ones you love, and a reminder to make memories while you can. We are
reminded that nobody is promised tomorrow.
This book was absolutely
awesome. I laughed and cried and then bawled like a baby. You
should have heard hubby during chapter 23. He was making me laugh so hard
while I was bawling like a baby. - "I need to speak to that
author"… "making grown women cry like little girls." It
was great!
This book is destined to be the
gift we give others during their time of mourning. Easily read. I
believe it would be easily read even when your world is falling apart.
This may be the book to help your friend find peace and believe that they have
not said “good-bye,” but merely, “see you soon.”

** a note: I am reblogging this during my own period of
mourning. Cancer took my sister from us on
April 8th this year (3 weeks ago). My mind did return to this book several times during the battle as I sat with my sister during her last few chemo sessions and after hospice was called in.
This is not good-bye Suzanne; it is merely until we see one another again.
