Though this is the first book in the series, I felt that it was a continuation or spin-off of another series. I don’t know which series, but it’s obvious that Zoe’s friends have stories that have been told and Zoe was probably a side character in their series. Now, I didn’t feel lost and this does stand without whichever other stories there are, but it was obvious that those were more than Easter Eggs laying around.
Now, that being said, I loved the romance and the cozy mystery of Lowell and Zoe. Imagine a person who sees spirits not recognizing one when he’s right in front of her!
The mystery was suspenseful, well-timed, and perfectly thought-out. I love when I can be kept on my toes while the Scoobies are figuring it out!
I’d love to read more of this series and see what happens next for Zoe and her friends … and maybe some of those other series to catch up on the Eggs.
