Description from the publisher:
Her protector is off-limits.
James is broken and running from a
past he can't face. He's fine living his
solitary life, away from anyone who he could hurt. Love was the last thing he deserved.
Layla is finished with her no-good
ex-fiancé. Just when she thought she'd
rid him from her life, James shows up claiming that she's in danger and must
come with him.
Confused and hurt, Layla discovers
that her world is destroyed. Despite
warning bells, she agrees to travel with James down to his hometown of Honey
Grove.
Determined to keep himself closed
off, James tries to fight his feelings for Layla. But she's sweet and gentle and just the thing
that's been missing in his life. If he
could only find a way to forgive himself from his past mistakes, he'd love her
like she deserves.
If you love broken heroes who are
gruff but gentle, you'll love Her Protector. A sweet romance where two broken hearts are
trying to find love together.

HER PROTECTOR is the third book in
the Braxton Brothers series. This was formerly released as ESCAPING TO
HONEY GROVE.
This is a wonderful, clean romance
with plenty of heart, smiles, and a bit of intrigue. They both have secrets; deciding when and how
to trust one another is the test of their burgeoning relationship after being
thrust together by her ex.
I love stories that touch on the
soldiers that return and have to deal with the lifelong traumas of PTSD. I know the effects that it has on a family;
my father had it for over five decades (It didn’t take him. Agent Orange didn’t claim him. Thank God, he was allowed to live his full
life). PTSD doesn’t always destroy, but
it must always be respected. Anne-Marie
Meyer did so with love, compassion, and realism. Thank you Anne-Marie. This may have been only a part of James’
story, but it was an important part of who he is and how he thinks.
I was told I could read this one as
a stand-alone without having the previous books. Well, they were right and they were
wrong. It does stand alone, but this is
potato chips in a book format. There is
no way I want just one! I’m on the hunt
for more of this deliciousness – especially brother Jonathan (book 2) because
he plays for my Steelers!
Narration: Liz Krane did a
wonderful job of bringing this book to life.
She has a sweet pleasant voice and is a practiced voice actress.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook
copy via Audio BookCrave, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
