Description from the publisher:

Award-winning author Kat Bastion teams with her husband, Stone Bastion, in this first book in the No Weddings Series about Cade Michaelson, a successful man with his sights set on a new venture in business, and Hannah Martin, the woman who makes it personal.

I think I have my act together as a successful bar owner, my master’s degree within reach, and a list of no-strings-attached women warming my bed. Turns out, I don’t.

Hannah believes she has safeguarded her wounded heart by shunning men and focusing on her new baking business. The thing is, she hasn’t.

When my three sisters and I start a new event-planning business with Hannah as our baker, I have no idea how my life is about to change. As Hannah and I work closely together, the attraction between us becomes irresistible. And complicated. I’ve promised my sisters I wouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But I’ve never been one to follow the rules.

This is the first book in the No Weddings series.  They do need to be read in order.

Cade and his three sisters have started an event-planning business with a few rules – no dating the “help” and no weddings are two of the unusual ones.  The “no weddings” rule is because Cade has been crushed by love and no longer encourages it.  Instead he’ll stick to women willing to indulge in no-strings-attached sexual encounters.  One of his sisters suggests Hannah as the new baker for their group.  Hannah is an artist using buttercream icing and cake as her medium.  Dubbed the “Ice Queen” by Cade the first time he meets her, he is disconcerted to find himself drawn to her and determined to break through that wall of ice to find the woman beneath.  Can he pursue the woman without upsetting their business arrangement…and what about the rules?

I loved the story.  The premise and the characters are intriguing and fun.  I found this to be an easy, comfortable read, except for some repetitiveness, with just the right touch of angst.  Cade is a rake with a heart of gold and it was fun watching his own walls crumble, too.  There were more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.  It’s a good thing my friends and family have gotten used to my sudden outbursts while staring at the kindle screen!

I love the titles in this series and I definitely want to read more.

I chose an excerpt just because it’s so funny that I had to share:

“You know, if you have to carry the one, you’re plastered.”

She snorted.  “I think I’ve had four.  No, five.”

I’d only ever seen Hannah have a glass or two of wine.  “And that doesn’t constitute plastered.”  My comment flattened into more of a statement than a question.  Because arguing the levels of drunkenness with the drunk brought out rare forms smartass in me.

Hannah shook her head.  “Nope.  The first beer is buzzed.  The second, tipsy.  The third one is drunk.”

Kiki leaned around Hannah, pressing in.  “The fourth one’s hammered.”

Kristen slammed down her now-empty beer mug.  “The fifth is plastered!”

I barked out a laugh.  “Which, clearly, you are.  Have another beer, O Reserved One.”

Hannah nodded once, as if an oracle had spoken through the mouths of beer-laced babes.  “And shitfaced would be beer number six.”  She hiccupped.  It was adorable.
