Description:
Detective Davis Hamilton is struggling to balance his career and his personal life. The high profile murder case couldn’t have come across his desk at a worse time—his partner is so pregnant she’s about to pop, and the sole witness is not only a suspect herself... she’s Lori Summers, famous for surfing killer waves in equally killer designer bikinis, and known deep in his heart as the one who got away.

Lori Summers decided the day Davis Hamilton dumped her for a society wife, that she didn’t need a man in order to be somebody. She lived up her daredevil career with glamorous international photo shoots until tragedy brought her back to her home town to face the past and re-think the future. Stumbling over a dead rap star wasn’t supposed to be part of that equation, and neither was running from a killer... right into the arms of the last man on earth she’d dare to trust.

What would you do if you arrived at the house of a friend and heard gunshots?  That is how this story of intrigue and romance begins.

Lori Summers ran from a home of heartache and built herself up as a supermodel.  Now, due to the grief of losing her sister, she is turning her back on her new life.  She dreams of redefining herself, again.  She has returned to Florida, but not to home.  Her best friend Kimber has recently broken up with her long term beau and moved in with Lori.  Davis "Davy" Hamilton has turned his back on his high-society family to do what he loves.  As a cop, he wants to make a difference in the lives of those around him.

Amber Tompkins is bat sh*t crazy!  She is an example of the egocentric psychotics found on the news every night.  She has blamed Lori for all that is wrong in her life and she is setting out to get even.

Together Lori and Davis will explore the futures they want … for her, for him, and for them, if they survive.
This book was a nice, easy read.  It was an escape from reality, but not really.  There are crazy people in the world.  You never know what is going through their minds, but Ms. Black tries to give you a glimpse into the mind of one and I believe she has succeeded.  When I finished, it took me a few minutes to remember where (and who) I was.  Don't you love when a book transports you!?

Editing / Grammar: B. The grammar was perfect.  A few editing errors were e-mailed directly to the publisher.
