Kidnapped by an outlaw biker gang, she is forced to micropropagate marijuana for them. A man named Stoner is assigned to babysit her and when an undeniable attraction flares between Karen and Stoner, she decides to seduce him in an attempt to escape. But Stoner has his own agenda and he’s not about to let her derail his plans.

As Karen enters a criminal's world of illegal fighting, human trafficking, marijuana production, and murder, she soon discovers Stoner isn't what he seems. But who is this mysterious man who can be cold and intimidating one moment and then set her blood on fire with desire the next?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the fourth book in the Unlikely Heroes series.  It does stand alone, but there is no doubt that there is another story that has happened featuring Karen’s daughter, April.  I was dying to start reading it before I was even finished with this one.
One of my favorite things about this book is that the hero and heroine are older, single people carrying all of the baggage that is common with lives fully-lived.  They weren’t portrayed as frail and somehow still innocent people in their late forties; instead, they are strong, intelligent, sexy, and lusty.  Their scars and their pasts do define them and that is a wonderful thing!  The story reminds me that your past may not define your future, but it most certainly colors your perception of the present.
I picked this book to read more or less on the eenie-meenie-miney-mo method.  I’m truly glad that I did.  When I finished reading, I did immediately go to Amazon and pick up the first book in the series (free).  The bonus is that this is April’s story!
