RESCUING RILEY is the second book in
the Gold Coast Retrievers series. Each stands on its own, and is written by a
different author.
Josh is first introduced in SAVING
SARAH, which makes me wonder who we met in this book will be in the next and
the next. I love little gifts like that.
There were so many hints to Liza and
Riley’s relationship before this story that it feels like they should have
begun in another book. I felt that I was
missing something I should have known. I
even searched to see if there was more.
There wasn’t a previous book.
That’s not to say that there isn’t a complete story here, just that I
kept feeling like I missed a previous story….
Then the rest of the story came at the end.
I loved Josh and Riley’s slow
growing relationship, dedication to his cousin, the undeniable heat between
them, and the meddling of his father.
I loved that Josh was a hero with an
ability to accept assistance when he needed it (due to a war injury). This doesn’t diminish heroes! It increases them.
I loved this story and hope the rest
of the series can live up to the high bar set here.
