This is the first book in the Date
Shark series. They will need to be read
in order.
Leila contacts the Date Shark to
bolster her lack-luster love life. There
must be a reason why she hasn’t found a lasting relationship. One date with her and Eli knows that her only
problem is a lack of confidence. She is
beautiful, smart, talented, and sweet….and quickly becoming his obsession. In order to stay close, he offers to be her
friend as she begins dating Luke. His
plan to build her up before claiming her for himself just may backfire as her
relationship with Luke continues to grow.
What is a date shark? In this book, it is a psychiatrist with a
side business where he assists women with understanding the errors they make in
dating and how to improve their chances of gaining a lasting relationship. The story is told in the third person with
chapters alternating in focus between Leila and Eli.
The interaction between Eli and Leila as she
dates Luke brought to mind the play, Cyrano de Bergerac. I
kept praying that Eli’s Roxane, Leila, would
see through the layers of their friendship to find the love that is growing
within each of them and know that she can trust his desire is genuine. When he finds out what her deepest secret is,
I was excited to see how he could make her dreams come true. I do a bit of sewing and I could just imagine
the fabrics and patterns described. I
would love to get a chance to make “the dress.”
I loved this story and
the characters. I definitely would love
to continue to read more from this author.
